Position	Description
Police Officer 1	The City of Independence will accept applications at the Job Opportunity Center, 200 Arco Place, Independence, KS 67301, for the position of Police Officer I for work in the Police Department. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 21 years of age or older, have no felony convictions, possess or be able to obtain a valid Kansas driver's license, be able to pass a background check, entrance exam, physical agility test, psychological test, oral board and medical physical. Must reside within the boundaries established for emergency personnel within six months of employment. The boundaries are from County Road (C.R.) 3000 north to C.R. 6200 and from C.R. 2700 east to C.R. 5700. A boundary map is available in the City Clerk's Office, Fire Department, Police Department and EMS. Must not have applied for this position within the last 12 months. EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Must be able to work shift work. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 21 years of age. NOTE: Final applicants will submit to drug screening prior to awarding of job. SALARY RANGE: Between $13.16 to $17.24 per hour. APPLICATION DEADLINE: Until filled.
